State Representative, 55th District

Campaign Pillars

Inalienable Rights

I am dedicated to defending the divine freedoms guaranteed by the Constitution and Bill of Rights. As we mark the 250th anniversary of American independence, let us reclaim these sacred principles together. Stand for liberty today by volunteering for our team or requesting a yard sign to show your support for District 55 and our fundamental values.

Affordability

Excessive property taxes are threatening the financial stability of Kansas families and driving many from their homes. This cycle of overtaxation must end with responsible fiscal guardrails and legislative reform. Join our fight for permanent tax relief today by volunteering for the campaign or requesting a yard sign to show your support for a more affordable District 55.

Growth

Economic growth starts by letting Kansans keep more of what they earn to fuel local businesses and jobs. This prosperity must be paired with diverse education options that empower every student to thrive through personalized learning and skill-building. By prioritizing financial freedom and academic excellence, we can secure a bright future for our state. Help us champion this growth for District 55 by signing up to volunteer for the team or requesting a yard sign to show your support today.

About Lanell

The last six years I home schooled my sons, and now that my youngest graduated from high school mid May - I realized the time was right to step into this (very difficult) race. My background is diverse. From the coordinating fitness and wellness programs for worksites, to restoring houses to sell, to teaching, and I suppose you could say “community organizing” as an officer in the GOP grassroots.

I love this country and state. Being a citizen is a beautiful privilege and I want to help make it the safest, most prosperous and freest place that it can be. And that requires laws which honor and uplift the dignity of every person. With that, I see opportunity for reforms that allow Kansans to keep more of their earnings as well as welfare reform that can offer a hand up to those willing to take hold. Fighting against ever-escalating property taxes and irresponsible public spending has been a passion of mine in recent years. I’ve seen and heard many distraught citizens unable to afford their property taxes/rent which goes up with property tax increases. Government needs to spend less, not more.

My education includes BS and MS degrees in Kinesiology from Kansas State University, as well as life experience in the corporate world as a working mom, and later a ‘nanny' and educator for my own children and the many roles that entails! Anyway, the Grand Old Party really is the big tent party, especially for women. Whether a woman chooses family or career or both, whether all at once or spread out into seasons - it’s the GOP that first welcomed women to vote, and it’s the GOP that works for policies that better enable parents to have more time and resources for their children, so that each next generation upholds and passes liberty to their posterity.
